So much has been lost due to the pandemic and certainly CCI along with our members have felt the loss. I think the biggest loss was networking. We as condominium owners and Board members didn’t have the opportunity to meet at Lunch and Learns and President’s Forums to connect and talk about issues, share information and find solutions. Now that the world is trying to return to some kind of normal, it is difficult to recreate the past.

As I write this report for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2021, I am amazed at how time flies, especially during a pandemic. They say “time flies when you’re having fun”, and I guess now we can say “time flies during a pandemic”. Most of us have not travelled nor gone to our workplaces or visited with friends and family, but yet, we have adapted and we are getting through it. Challenging and definitely unprecedented! And what lies ahead? Hope and promise, but still lots of uncertainty. Whatever the future holds, we know that we can adapt and we can get through it. We have learned so much and there is much to be grateful for. 

Welcome to Fall, my favourite time of year, so why does it still feel like summer? The geese are practising I hope and will not leave for a long while yet. The leaves are turning and the fall colours are beautiful and as I write this report on a sunny and warm day in the first week of October, the grass is still green and the temperature is expected to be 29 degrees today. What a blessing! October is a time for giving thanks.....thanks for our family, friends, our health and how blessed we are to live in Manitoba.

Spring is such a promising season with the promise of warmer weather, longer days, birds singing, the geese returning and the blooming

Here’s to a better year! While it appears it may be a long while until we return to somewhat normal times, the future does look hopeful. No one would have thought in the early days of Spring last year that we would still be living with restrictions and that the 2020 holiday season would have been so different, but we survived!

As I prepare to write my final report for this past fiscal year of July 1, 2019 to June 30, 2020, I go through all of the past reports of the 2019- 2020 year and try to give you a snapshot of past activities as well as a few hints of what to expect in the coming fiscal year. Year end committee reports are also included in this newsletter edition.

At the time of writing this report, we are still in the pandemic lockdown and very uncertain of when some of the restrictions may be lifted. Delivery of this newsletter may be one of the casualties, but we are proceeding and hope to deliver as many as possible.

In our last issue, we discussed some ideas to get ready for Spring. After a very slow start, spring is almost over as we anticipate summer. Summer in Manitoba is our reward for those long cold winters.
 

This issue looks ahead to Spring, a busy time for Condominium Boards as they contemplate the many estimates for Spring, parkade cleaning, window cleaning, landscaping and a multitude of other spring cleaning and maintenance jobs that are in need of doing.
