Why Join CCI

By Alan Forbes | Other articles by Alan Forbes | Regular Column

Why join Manitoba CCI? Because CCI Manitoba provides great value for the price of a membership.

CCI works to advance the following objectives:

1. To provide condominium directors, property managers and other industry professionals with educational opportunities.

2. To provide condominium directors and members with assistance with any problems encountered in operating condominium corporations.

3. To protect and improve the quality of life afforded to residents in condominium properties.

4. To provide guidance to various levels of government with regard to the establishment of policies and/or legislation that provide for the equitable treatment of condominium properties.

While it’s easy to quantify the cost of a CCI Manitoba membership, it’s more difficult to quantify its value. First of all, not all members take advantage of all of the available benefits, so the perceived value will vary depending on the specific member. Secondly, some members are unaware that they are members. In fact, all unit owners of a member condo corporation are also members of CCI Manitoba and, as such, are entitled to all of the associated membership benefits. This also applies to the staff at our Business Partner members.

Here are the benefits available to all members:

• Access to exclusive member-only content on our website — podcasts, presentations and recordings; newsletter archive; forms and templates. Note that login credentials are required; if you don’t know yours, just email us.

• FREE registration for  CCI Manitoba webinars and lunch & learns (LnL)

• Reduced rates for CCI Manitoba online courses for condo corporation directors and unit owners

• Complimentary snacks and beverages along with eligibility to vote at the CCI Manitoba Chapter’s Annual General Meeting

• Eligibility to participate at the CCI National Annual General Meeting

• Member rates for CCI National Leaders’ forums and conferences and other events put on by other CCI chapters

• Electronic delivery of the Manitoba Chapter quarterly newsletter, Condominium News and Views

FREE Networking opportunities to find new service providers, to ask questions of industry professionals, to find new clients or to make new acquaintances

• Access to Member Q&As to take advantage of the skills and experience of our directors and other members

• As well, CCI Manitoba has kept its members informed about the plans to regulate short-term rentals in Winnipeg and put on a free webinar to discuss the regulations and implications in January 2024. Click here for to view the presention and webinar recording

Business Partner and Professional members also benefit from being listed in our business partner and professional directory, both on our website and in our newsletter, with visibility to more than 150 CCs with more than 10,000 condo unit owners. As well, they can take advantage of sponsorship and advertising opportunities to expand their businesses by advertising opportunities in our quarterly newsletter, promoting themselves on our website, on our webinars and at our in-person events.

Condo corporation directors can access the CondoSTRENGTH program… for Directors by Directors and all condo unit owners benefit from CCI’s advocacy efforts on issues such as proposed cuts to garbage and recycling service, introduction of inequitable waste diversion fees, regulating short-term rentals and improvements to The Condominium Act to allow electronic meetings and AGMs. As well, CCI Manitoba has kept its members informed about the plans to regulate short-term rentals in Winnipeg and is putting on a FREE webinar to discuss the regulations and implications in January 2024.

The condominium community is growing at an astonishing rate; now nearly a third of the home real estate market is condominium sales. It is in the best interest of both successful and struggling condominium corporations as well as industry professionals to actively support the CCI in its aim to improve the condominium image throughout Canada. This can be achieved through your membership and participation in the national institute and its chapters.

We are certain you will benefit from membership in The Canadian Condominium Institute Manitoba Chapter and look forward to receiving your correspondence about issues and concerns of particular interest to you. Feel free to email us.
