Committee Reports

At CCI Manitoba, most of the detailed work is done at the committee level, with the Board setting the direction and making the decisions for proposals brought forward from the committees. The following reports provide updates from CCI Manitoba’s committees.
Note that you need not be a CCI Board Member to join one of our committees. If you are interested in volunteering for one of our committees, please email us.
Membership Committee
The Membership Committee set a goal of adding 50 new CCI members by June and agreed a membership blitz would be a good start to help us achieve this number. We are meeting with all property management companies to discuss the benefits of membership to condo unit owners and their condo boards. Our meetings so far have been positive.
At CCI Manitoba we believe that all condo corporations should be members of our chapter. The benefit of the knowledge received far exceeds the minimal cost — which, by the way, was half the price of a membership during our blitz period. We feel encouraged that we can achieve our goal. Exceeding it would be great.
Individual members — 30
Condominium corporations — 192
Professional members — 23
Business Partners members — 54
Total — 299 as of April 20,2024 (up from 280 at end of prior year)
The membership committee consists of Patricia Salam (chair), Kirsten Bishop, Mara Doctoroff, Alan Forbes, Audrey Harder, Doug Forbes, Seth Henoch, Duane Rohne and Kathleen Vandale.
Communications Committee
The Communications Committee last met March 5 to discuss and plan for the release of the spring newsletter. We agreed to increase the font size for article copy. The larger type will permit easier reading without the need for zooming view.
We are still exploring reasonable alternatives for a print version of the newsletter. Thus far, we have not identified an alternative that could print and distribute the newsletter without significant expense.
We discussed the use of social media and remained at an impasse. To effectively use social media, we require experienced resources to manage multiple platforms. The discussion continues.
The Communication Committee consists of Duane Rohne, Maureen Hancharyk, Alan Reiss, Alan Forbes and volunteers Pamela Pyke and Shelley Robertson.
AGM/Sponsorship Committee
The AGM/Sponsorship Committee is tasked with organizing, scheduling and co-ordinating CCI Manitoba’s Annual General Meeting as well as securing sponsors for our organization.
We are currently planning for the Annual General Meeting, to be held in September. We are looking at a number of venues, with the leading contender being the Norwood Hotel. This takes us back a few years, when the Norwood Hotel was the go-to place for our annual meetings. At this time, we are checking prices and rooms and hope to have an update in the near future. Among other things, we would like to have an “Ask The Experts” session as part of the annual meeting.
The committee is also involved in securing sponsors for CCI Manitoba and in setting sponsorship rates. The rates for the coming year will remain as is, with no planned changes to sponsorship rates or levels. We now have two Platinum, two Gold, four Silver and four Bronze-level sponsors. Over the next few months, the committee will actively seek additional sponsors. As well, we have had numerous sponsors for individual events such as the AGM.
The AGM/Sponsorship Committee consists of John Popowich (co-chair), Kathleen Vandale (co-chair), Seth Henoch and non-board member volunteer Connie Dame.
