The importance of inspections and preventive maintenance

The recent news item about the evacuation of five story apartment block (CBC news - "City of Winnipeg orders evacuation of Portage Avenue apartment block after structural issues found") brings back disturbing memories of the collapse of the Champlain Towers in south Florida back in 2021. Although in the case here there was no loss of life, there is considerable disruption to the lives of the residents who used to live in the suites. Situations such as these reinforce the importance of having an effective preventive maintenance program with timely inspections in your condo corporation, to keep it safe and well maintained.
