St. Boniface short term rental in the news for the wrong reasons

As reported Catherine Moreau of CBC News on 2024-10-13 in her article 6 months on, more than 200 Airbnb listings appear to violate Winnipeg's new short-term rental bylaw, neighbors are complaining and frustrated with what is happening. Noise, parties, increased litter, continual changeover of people and vehicles like you'd expect at a hotel are some of the comments made by people in the area.

"The three units at 153 Aubert are among five listings Radio-Canada found on Airbnb by Suite Stay Properties. The other two units are located at 384 Stradbrook Ave., in the Osborne Village area, a building owned by a different company, according to a search of land titles and companies records. The buildings are owned by two separate numbered companies that have the same three shareholders, according to the records.  Those listings appear to violate the city's bylaw."
