Fraud awareness — fauxductivity
Have you heard of fauxductivity or task masking? If not, you are not alone. If you supervise or manage staff though, you need to be informed.
Basically, fauxductivity or task masking is giving the appearance of being busy and productive while doing nothing of value.
A CTV News article associates the problem with Gen Z, but it has been around for decades. The article, Gen Z is ‘task masking’ in the workplace. How harmful is it?, was published on March 12, 2025. It has come to the forfront thanks to Tik Tok and the pandemic.
It is a problem and often a symptom of a distuncitonal workplace. Both the managers and the managed have a role in eliminating it from the workplace.
March is fraud awareness month. Don't become a victim — be informed.
