Advocacy Update March 2025 - Multi Family Waste Diversion Fee
The on-again, off-again multi-family waste diversion (MFWD) fee is on-again and set to impact current year budgets for Winnipeg condominium corporations (WCCs).

On March 10, 2025 MFWD fees are on the meeting agenda for the Standing Policy Committee on Water, Waste and Environment Regular Meeting Agenda — have a look at item 3 and page 2 of appendix A - fees and charges.
- There is a new multi-unt waste management fee proposed to start April 1, 2025 at at rate of $0.3479 per dwelling unit per day for an annual amount of $127
- For a WCC of 100 units, that equates to an annualized cost of $12,700.
- Did you factor that into your current year's budget by any chance?
CCI Manitoba is not opposed to WCCs paying for pickup and processing of recylables but desires the costs to be equitable to all rate payers for the service they receive.
