Topic: Virtual AGM’s / Air BnB and Condominiums: The Rise of "Ghost Hotels"
This split Lunch & Learn session will touch on both the topics of AGM’s and Air BnB. Maureen Hancharyk, Condo Board President and Alan Forbes, Condo Board Treasurer will share their experiences on how they have worked through the feat of holding an AGM during a pandemic. They will walk through some of the questions and challenges that arose and their successes as well. For the second portion of this session, Matt Jerome, Lawyer at MLT Aikins LLP will help you get a general understanding of Air BnB rentals of condominium units and resulting legal and practical issues. Air BnB has the potential to change community living and cause important issues (nuisance, safety and security etc.) for other unit owners. Matt hopes to share some tools with you to provide you with some working knowledge helping you build an appreciation of potential options and solutions to pursue, to avoid or mitigate issues with Air BnB rentals.
