Advocacy Update - Winnipeg Garbage Cuts Trashed
By CCI MB Communictions Committee | Other articles by CCI MB Communictions Committee | Feature
CCI Manitoba wants to thank all of you that helped out advocating against the proposed cuts to garbage pickup services for condominium corporations. It looks like our collective efforts got the job done - the City has backed away from the proposed cuts to services for multi-family properties.
Per the City's website https://www.winnipeg.ca/Interhom/Budget/2020Budget/default.stm under the section titled Operating Revenues and Expenses, the fifth paragraph states:
The preliminary multi-year balanced budgets do not include any of the proposed closures of existing City facilities or any other significant reductions to important City services, such as discontinuing multi-family garbage collection or changes to street lighting.
So thanks to all of you who wrote, phoned or emailed your City Councillor and/or The Mayor advocating against the proposed cuts. And a special thank you to all of the property managers who forwarded our bulletin to the individual unit owners - without you helping get our message to the unit owners, we probably would not have been successful. All of you are supporting CCI Manitoba in its mission:
"...toward one common goal, creating a successful and viable condominium community..."
Respectfully,
BOARD OF DIRECTORS CCI Manitoba
